Trump: "I have no plans to fire." Powell, the Fed Chair

According to US President Donald Trump, he has "no intention of removing" Jerome Powell, the chair of the Federal Reserve. He did, however, restate his want for the Fed to lower interest rates.

In a Tuesday interview with reporters, Trump expressed his desire for Powell to "be a bit more active in terms of his concept to lower interest rates."

"We consider that it is an ideal time to cut the rate," the president added.

On Thursday, Trump hinted that he would fire Powell from his position. At the time, the president expressed his opinion that the Fed chair was not carrying out his duties effectively. "If I want him out, he will be out of there extremely soon," he continued.
